Resource & Learning Blog Final

Resource & Learning Blog Final    Standard :   4c: Guide students on the importance of diverse perspectives and human-centered design in developing computational artifacts with broad accessibility and usability. This activity aligns with this standard because the students will be uploading artifacts, they will be creating on Nearpod and transferring that too Flip. This will help broaden the students perspective on developing design. 3c: Plan collaboratively with other educators to create learning activities that cross disciplines to strengthen student understanding of CT and CS concepts and transfer application of knowledge in new contexts. This activity aligns with this standard because I got to work collaboratively with other educators from another class. Through various team meetings with other educators, we created a Hero Journey Story that align with different TEKS from each team member. There is an activity that goes with the story and it promotes the u...

Service Project         Standard :   4c: Guide students on the importance of diverse perspectives and human-centered design in developing computational artifacts with broad accessibility and usability. This activity aligns with this standard because the students will be uploading artifacts, they will be creating on Nearpod and transferring that too Flip. This will help broaden the students perspective on developing design. Hero Journey Story: We only have three TEKS/standards out of six team members however this is the Hero Journey story so far with three TEKS/standards, click here . Resources: We will use the Flip (engagement) so students can upload their drawings and butterfly puzzle, click here . We will use Nearpod (instructional delivery and assessment). The students will learn about the topic and interact through different task within the Nearpod, click here . Screencast: This is a screencast of me explaining how to upload the drawings and puzzle t...

STAR Hero Journey Reflections/ Questions

STAR Hero Journey Reflections/Questions  Team meeting #1 Reflection:      After meeting with the team on zoom for the first time I felt confident in knowing that we can work together to make an engaging and fun STAR Hero Journey story. The team members were very positive, kind, and sounded like they are all hard workers. Going forward we plan to continue communicating and helping one another so we all can be successful.  Link to team meeting #1 Team meeting #2 Reflection:      In team meeting two, I facilitated the 5D Cycle of Appreciative Inquiry when explaining what the Hero's Journey is. I said "what is Hero Journey," I am not sure if I used it properly. I used the first box to explain the meaning of the Hero's Journey however I didn't finish talking about the rest of the boxes. I should have gone over the Cycle and explained the inquiry.     Throughout the meeting the team members were very suppor...

I-Create Lab Day Blog

I-Create Lab Day  Station: 3D printer and CNC machine   TEK:  Science K.10(B) Identify basic parts of plants and animals (My TEK) TEK: Science 5.9.A Observe how organisms live and survive in their ecosystem by interacting with the living and non-living components. Gardening Theme:  Exploring texture in the garden (properties of soils & abilities to support plant growth)  Plan: The plan is to use the 3D printer to create a trellis and labels for the plants. We are going to use resin as the materials. The labels will be passed out to the students so they can have a chance to label and make their own flower (seeds will be provided). Also we plan to use a CNC machine to create a hands on puzzle to make a flower/insect that aligns with the STaR Hero Journey/ TEKS.  The idea: Students will discover how plants grow with support. The trellis will be created as a support for the plants. Similar to how education and new information is scaffolded in...

Digital Maker Space  Category: Digital Art  TEK:  Science K.10(B) Identify basic parts of plants and animals  Objective: Students will be able to identify parts of the plant by using the Nearpod   Resource tools:  The students need a Chromebook to access the Nearpod. Click here to view Nearpod Plan: Students can design different flowers for their garden using the Nearpod. Then we will learn and identify the different parts of the flower using the Nearpod. There will be examples/ models provided within the Nearpod.    Standards:   4b: Design authentic learning activities that ask students to leverage a design process to solve problems with awareness of technical and human constraints and defend their design choices. This activity aligns with this standard because the Nearpod will challenge the students to think on their own to activate prior knowledge and solve a problem when presented with a question. There is a drawing portion in ...

Exploring DroneBlocks Simulator

Exploring DroneBlocks Simulator  - Click here to watch a video of the drone!        Above are the different codes that my partner, Izzy and I create while exploring the DroneBlock app. Here is a loom video where my partner and I explained what we are doing with each code that's above.  Standard : - 3c : Plan collaboratively with other educators to create learning activities that cross disciplines to strengthen student understanding of CT and CS concepts and transfer application of knowledge in new contexts. This activity aligns with this standard because my partner and I learned new how to do the code and what each function means. By my partner and I learning new concepts this will help us teach the students how to work DroneBlocks. - 4d : Create CS and CT learning environments that value and encourage varied viewpoints, student agency, creativity, engagement, joy and fun. This activity aligns with this standard because when learned and taught properly th...

Kylee Ware's STEM Technology Blog LEGO WeDo 2.0 kit Activity  Frog Metamorphosis Summary:  Frog’s Metamorphosis : Today my partner, Izzy and I worked with a LEGO WeDo 2.0 kit to create a frog metamorphosis. I learned that LEGOs could move, I didn't know that before the project. My goal going forward is to be more patient and open minded with new activities. I wish to show the students at METRO-E that working together and staying consistent you can also be successful in creating something like this. We are planning to show this activity to first and/or second graders.       - Click here to watch video of the Frog move  Standards:  1.a: Set professional learning goals to explore and apply teaching strategies for integrating CT practices into learning activities in ways that enhance student learning of both the academic discipline and CS concepts. This activity aligns with this standard because through this activity my partner and I engage...
